Shain Foundation and Reggae Union remember Amara Kabba By Keifala Kosia
Shain Foundation and Reggae Union of Sierra Leone will join hands together to celebrate the 5th anniversary of the death of Sierra Leone’s reggae king, Amara Kabba. This breathtaking day will take place on 22 June at 24 Wellington Street, Freetown. Speaking in an exclusive interview with the coordinator of Shain Foundation and Reggae Union of Sierra Leone, Abdulai Kamara (Obi Fraze), he said the theme of the commemoration is “Interactive forum Rastaman confront it”. “‘Confront it’ is one the songs released by Amara Kabba before his death. So we want to see how we can confront some of the obstacles to see the way forward to push the reggae business. We also have a symposium on that day as part of our celebration for the way forward and advocate for justice for the marginalized Rasta and reggae society,” said Obi Fraze. Fraze also said that during this occasion they will introduce a brand new album titled “Guitar better than gun” which he said is about preaching peace and non-violence in society. The album is comprised of 12 songs. “There are different reggae artist that are feature in this album, some from Sierra Leone and from the Netherlands,” Obi Fraze revealed. Some of the reggae artists he mentioned will be there to grace the occasion: Repsta Culture Band, Vision For the Blind, Eshaka Jumu, Selasie and KTC, Jah Man, Suegay, Black Inspirators, Shain Dance troops, the 12 Tribes of Israel, Wise Men from the East, Egalitarians, Bobo Ashanty, PANAFU and many more. Shain Foundation are also working on a documentary on the Rasta movement in Sierra Leone that will soon be finished. |
